- will be learning about ethics

-reflection diary. each week upload a reflective image of the week, summary of what you did/learnt. can be phone image, sketch, tweet screencap, stressed face (but not too much of that). individually, every friday. about understanding your own process and reflecting.
- Tuesdays generally in the pit, guest speakers, debrief, friday - studio day
- Three types of studio - meeting, making, moving

- Formative assessment: week 4.2 - develop a visual brief
- Summative - choose anyone’s and develop that
Talk from Gina from Lifehack
- create conditions where young people thrive
- think about a person, what represents them, values, what they do, who they are, define them, identity
- wellbeing is everyone’s business
- not a binary of ill <-> well, there’s also a y axis of flourishing and impoverished - as in, you can be ill (mental illness, disability, poverty) but still find ways to flourish within personal confines you have. everyone has things that impact their lives but everyone should be able to have accessibility to wellbeing. always different for different people, therefore specific brief/audience is better
- various other models - PERMA - positive emotions, engagement, (positive) relationships, meaning, accomplishment
- 5 ways to wellbeing, connect, give, take notice, keep learning, be active
- Te Whare Tapa Wha - Wellbeing in Aotearoa. four walls of a house, whanau (family/community), wairua ( spiritual), tinana (physical), hinengaro (emotional)
- different levels, individual, family, community, national, global
- who needs to feed into your design process, who do you talk to? research different audiences directly
vague notes about project
- things that affect us on a daily basis
- generally projects about lighter, little things we can actually achieve
- choose specific audiece
- not for you (flatters etc) - choose a Different audience
- try and experience the thing for yourself
Studio
Think of one moment that happened in the holidays (positive) and write down what you did, what you were thinking and how you felt. Make a journey map
Read the 3 readings, talk about them
- what the essence of each one, relate to your own experiences?
- consider in relation to five ways of wellbeing (connect, be active, give, take notice, keep learning)
- how to handle a move - a particular case study, can find other stories around ‘moving’ eg child moving between two parents
- not looking for solutions, but moments in the story
- what is the tone of the article/story, who wrote it, what it is about: (how to handle moving to a new city or town, and ways to deal with it. Advice from a psychologist. Generally aimed towards adult, with kids etc.)
- there’s no mention of the internet, which helps a lot with leaving friends behind etc..
- there’s a difference between moving as a child and adult, no responsibility
- connecting is helpful - making friends to get more comfortable
- learning about the new place, culture maybe
- finding resources takes time and learning - helps to know people
- the internet helps a lot, staying connected is a lot easier and you probably can learn/know a lot more about the place before you go
- there are little things that are the same which can be comforting - eg traffic light crossing
- technique - learning people’s names
- Brief different groups on the story, tell relatable stories, how did you/they respond to it, which ways to wellbeing connect
- the stress and the city one: tested people in urban and rural places, people who live in cities reacted more emotionally. nature helps relieve stress, people should go into nature more
- driving stress: driving lowers your happiness, productivity, additude, in a car you’re stuck and can’t communicate, (apart from horns or whatever which isn’t positive) traffic is v frustrating. listening to podcasts is good, helps cope, make use of the time
Homework
- confirm the topic/reading you want to focus on
- find out more about it, secondary research (library, talks, newspapers, stats etc)
- prepare most interesting finding to present back (a stat, quote, etc.)
- bring evidence of an everyday wellbeing experience example (local)
- (remember to take pics of possibile things for reflective image)
